My Thrifting Outfit: Crazy Hat Lady?

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday morning to you :) Here's what I wore thrifting yesterday:

I think you've seen everything here before except for the crazy-old-lady hat I got Friday night at Urban Outfitters for a mere $4.99! So awesome.

Josh and I went to an estate sale and the usual thrifts yesterday, and I found some great stuff! I will post on all of that later today, but I thought I'd go ahead and show you my rainy/flurry day outfit first..

Let me say that I was really warm in this, despite the 39 degree weather and yucky freezing rain!

The hubby and I are going to an estate sale and my fave thrift stores today! Since it worked out so well last time, I'm going to make another list of what I'm on the lookout for.

Creepy-Cool Friday: Bare Trees and Black Bird

While I know that it isn't thrift-related, the completely bare Virginia trees kind of creep me out:

And then there's this little guy:

Both of these pictures are from beautiful last Sunday when I tried to go to an estate sale and ended up at the other Love of Jesus thrift store I rarely go to.

That's where the crazy black bird lurking on the back wall of the store was found. So creepy, right? (Also pretty bad- my phone-photo taking skills!)

New Obsession(s): Vintage Love

There is something just...magical...about vintage items. I love that something has a history, and vintage packaging is always cooler than new.

I've been slowly collecting vintage board games for their charm and to play! The hubby and I like to sit around and lazily play, making up rules as we go (sometimes the rules make it too hard!).

Word-Wise is definitely one of those games. You are supposed to be able to make up at least 5-letter words from the cards you're dealt, but the hubby and I couldn't do it! So naturally we changed it to 4-letter words.

Another thing I am obsessed with lately is reading vintage fashion blogs. I have been poring over the pages of Liebemarlene, Blooming Leopold, and The Cat's Pajamas for the past couple days. They've had me itching to go to another estate sale (I've got one lined up for Saturday, fingers crossed!).

I don't know how I never had gone to an estate sale until a couple weeks ago. It really is like going to another time and place, searching through someone's old life for things that you can give a new life to.

So, yeah. My new obsessions!

My Desk

When I was younger, I always liked having a bulletin board. I'd post up all of my poems and photo booth photos and friends' yearbook photos signed on the back. Even through college, I'd keep up some sort of collage.

The past year or so, though, I've been without both a desk and an inspiration board due to a tiny apartment. And now that's all over! I am so happy to have a space to blog and read and work again.

Here's my current inspiration board, filled with 70s magazine clippings, fall leaves, buttons and sparkly nail polish:

And here is my Planters Cocktail Peanuts tin I got for free at an estate sale, which holds my pencils:

And my old-timey pencil sharpener I found at Good Samaritan for practially nothing:

And my little wooden lap desk from the Williamsburg Antique Store, my 3-D glasses from this weekend for 30 cents, a Tiffany box with the pins for sale on etsy in it, a scale, and my two little books from Goodwill:

And I love my green lamp, which my wonderful hubby bought at Love of Jesus for $10 for me!

Everything about my desk makes me so happy! I love to be able to sit and read my favorite blogs (and write this one!) while surrounded by pretty little things.
