Thrift By Color: I Love Blue!

Blue and Green have long been my favorite colors. There's just something so natural and earthy (and sky-y?) about them :) Plus, blue is such a pretty color for things to be- even more ordinary things like overnight bags and kid's games!

Here are some of my favorite thrifted blue finds:

Vintage Insulators, Various Thrift Shops, Antiques Shops, and Estate Sales; Vintage Samsonite Overnight Bag, Goodwill Outlet; Chambray Button-Up, Goodwill; Vintage Hockey Game, Love of Jesus

My very favorite of these is the hockey game! It's so much fun, even though I mostly lose to the hubby (unless he takes pity on me and lets me win...which is even worse!). But it's seriously fun, and so awesome that I got it with all the orginal parts in the original box for less than three dollars :)

Hope you have a great Friday! It's almost time to head back to Richmond and away from the lovely beach, Florida thrifts, family and friends. :( But I'll be sure to have loads of photos and finds and everything to share once I'm back!

Always,
Amanda

Thrift By Color: Cool as Caramel

One color I have overwhelmingly been drawn to lately is caramel. It's such a great neutral to pair with any outfit, which is why I especially love it in bags and shoes! Here are some recent finds in the gooey-named hue:

Vintage Boy Scouts Wallet, Antiques Store; Vintage Dexter Tstrap Flats, Goodwill Outlet; Vintage Leather Bag, Goodwill; Vintage Shoemaker's Plate, Antiques Store

My favorite of this bunch would have to be the Boy Scout wallet I found at a local antiques store for four dollars. It's so neat to have a little piece of Boy Scout memorabilia, especially since I was in co-ed Boy Scouts once (it's called Venturing and it's high-adventure awesomeness for high-schoolers!).

I hope you have a happy Friday! The hubby and I will be in Orlando today, so I might get to hit up some of my college thrift haunts :) I'll let you know if I find anything good!

Amanda

Thrift By Color: Hot, Hot Pink

I am returning to my thrift blog roots and restarting Another's Treasure's "Thrift By Color" Fridays! I realized it's been quite a while since I've done one, and I've got plenty of colorful finds to feature :)

To start off- pink!

Teeth Salt and Pepper Shakers, Goodwill; LA Rock FM Radio Headphones, Goodwill; Battery-Operated Candle, Goodwill in Fredericksburg; Crazy Print Beach Dress, Secondhand Store in Florida

Okay, so I know I haven't showed you guys the teeth salt and pepper shakers. They are vintage, made in Japan, and I paid a buck for them! I realize they are pretty darn unusual...but I kind of love them :)

You remember these headphones with built-in radio? They are so fun to pop on and dance around the apartment- they make cleaning sooooo much more exciting!

I love this cute little "fake" candle. It's perfect for my bedside, since I'm terrified to light a real candle next to my bed and then fall asleep and knock it over!

Lastly, you'll most likely see this beach dress's debut whenever I post my vacation pictures. We leave in 5 days for Florida! I haven't decided if I'll try to post some of the time we're gone or if I'll schedule some posts or what. We'll see :)

Happy Friday!

Amanda

Blue Things and Sickness

This weekend I started to feel a little sick, but by Sunday night it was full-blown. The hubby thought I had a sinus infection- yuck. I went to work for about 5 hours yesterday, but then I had to leave and go to the doctor. Anyway...long story short, I have a sinus infection, am on antibiotics, and hopefully will get better very soon!

Now what you all are more interested in: Saturday's finds!

From Top Left, Clockwise: Alabaster Box, Good Samaritan ($1); Chambray Shirt for Hubby, Goodwill Outlet (<$1); Polaroid iZone Camera and Film, Love of Jesus ($2); Label Maker and Labels, Love of Jesus ($3 for both)

So, yeah. I guess I accidently thrifted a lot of blue things Saturday! :) I'm really excited about the label maker especially, since I've been looking for one and it's so much fun! The iZone camera works, but the iZone film isn't the 200 version film for this specific camera.

I got some 200 film on eBay, so expect to see some tiny pictures soon! And if you have the old iZone, I can send you the film for free if you'd like! Just let me know if you do :)

Anyway, have a great Tuesday!

Amanda

Thrift By Color: Grey Matters!

This week, I thought I'd give you all a creepy-cool break (maybe there's been a bit too much creepy!) and go back to thrift-by-color. Here's a color that I never used to be drawn to, but that I'm totally digging now:

From Top Left, Clockwise: Old Photos From Yard Sale; Vintage Stationery Kit; Vintage Goody Clip; Grey All-Weather Boots

One of these things that I don't think I've talked much about is the stationery kit. I got it at Good Samaritan awhile ago, and I put it up in the shop. But when it wasn't bought within the first couple weeks, and I found myself needing all the goodies in it, I took it out and saved it for me!

It has come in handy, too- the little stapler helps me put together the etsy shop items I send off, and of course the measuring tape comes in handy!

Have a great Friday, everyone :)

Amanda

Thrift By Color: Blue Jean Love

As I've said before, I've always been a bit of a tomboy. I'm not a big fan of dresses, or skirts, or frills- and I pretty much just started liking the color pink.

One thing I have always loved, though: blue jeans. They are my go-to weekend wear, and since it's usually the weekend when I thrift, you all have seen my fave jeans many times. Here are some outtakes:

Although I would love to branch out and start wearing, say, khakis or courds or something different, I probably won't. I have to wear a uniform all week, with black or grey pants and a uniform top...so I try to be both comfy (jeans) and cute (random thrift finds) on the weekend.

Today we are getting our keys to the new apartment, and we're going to be moving all weekend! I'm going to set up some posts for the next couple days, but they're won't be any thrifting for me this weekend, I'm afraid :(

Have a good one!

Thrift By Color: Brownie Points

If there was ever a color I truly did not wear/didn't like, it was brown. Lately, that has all changed. I have found the beauty of brown- as a neutral in my pretty boots and as part of the craziness of my leopard print vest.

I'm almost loving brown as much as I love brownies!

From top left, clockwise: Mirror, Good Samaritan; Boots, Goodwill; Dooney and Bourke Bag, Goodwill; Leopard Print Vest, Family Thrift

Have a really great Friday everyone!

Amanda

Thrift By Color: Black Friday

I like to think of black as my go-to neutral of choice. When in doubt, I choose black, whether in a purse, shoes, belt, suspenders...you get the picture.

Here are some of my favorite finds, which just so happen to be black:

From top left, clockwise: Old-man suspenders and wishbone belt, Goodwill; Gucci sunglasses case, Family Thrift; Cumberbund-as-belt, Goodwill; Tripod, FanTastic Thrift.

When I first posted about the tripod, I got a couple comments about how great of a deal I got on it ($1.75!). The funny thing is that I saw this exact same tripod at my local Goodwill a couple days later for $9!

Just goes to show you, even when it comes to thrift shopping it pays to shop around!

Have an excellent Friday!

Amanda

Thrift by Color: Think Pink

When I was younger, I was a total tomboy. And in some ways, I still am. (I hardly ever wear dresses, can't walk in heels, etc.) But one thing I have come around on: the color pink. Love it.

Here are some of my favorite pink finds:

Vera Bradley Bag, Goodwill Outlet ($2); Pink Bangle, Love of Jesus (less than $1); Computer Cover, Goodwill ($2); JCrew Belt, Goodwill ($1)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Thrift By Color: The Reject Pile!

Happy Friday everyone! For this week's thrift by color, I thought I'd share some of the craziest patterns I saw this past Saturday. (I half-loved these...and half understood why they were discarded by their original owners!)

These were found in Goodwill Outlet, Love of Jesus, and Good Samaritan Thrift :)

Have an excellent Friday everyone!

Does anyone else have a three-day weekend? Hope so!

Amanda

Feelin' Blue

No, I'm not feeling sad! I just decided to share some of my favorite finds- by color :) Every Friday for the next couple weeks, I'll be sharing collages of color and the stories behind each item. I figure it's a good way to end the week.

So, here goes. From top left: Cardigan, Goodwill ($3); Bangles, Love of Jesus Thrift (Less than $1); Jeans, Goodwill ($6); Clutch/purse storage ($1.25)

When I got the Cardie from Goodwill, I honestly didn't know how much I would wear it. It originally came with shoulder pads, which I cut out, and I liked it much better. I honestly wear it all the time. I'll be sad when it gets too cold to pull this out of my closet, 'cause it always makes me smile!

The bangles, shown in Sunday's post, were $1 for 10 at Love of Jesus. I just got them this past weekend, but I'm already in love. I like wearing all of the shades of a color at once- very paint sample, but also very cute :)

These Old Navy jeans, worn in a previous post, are one of my favorite pairs. They aren't too long and aren't too short, which is unusual for me to find. It seems that 5'3" is right on the borderline of petite and average length. Ugh.

And finally, this clutch was found the other night at Goodwill, and I use it to organize smaller items in my huge, lovely purse. I love that it's quilted and the navy color is great. I totally dig it.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Always,

Amanda
