Leopard Print Jimmy Choo's

Yup, you read that right! I thrifted a pair of kitten heel leopard print Jimmy Choo's at Goodwill Outlet on Tuesday!!!

They aren't in the best shape (the kitten heels need new bottoms; the edges are worn), but heck, they're Jimmy Choo heels for two bucks! What do you think? Best find ever?

Jimmy Choo's; Goodwill Outlet ($2)
There they were, sitting at the bottom of one of the shopping carts filled with shoes. The print caught my eye, and when I saw the brand I grabbed them and walked away to get a closer look. They are so high-quality and so pretty that I just want to put them on a shelf and stare!

They actually fit me too, so maybe I'll try to find someone to fix the kitten heels and I'll wear them somewhere special :)

I just had to share this with you all!

Always,
Amanda

Meet, Perhaps, My Best Find Ever...

...My newly thrifted 1980s Lane Stowaway Chest! I saw it sitting in the corner of Good Samaritan thrift on Saturday, and I was drawn to the treasure chest look of it. When I saw the price ($20!) and confirmed that it was of great quality, (Lane! Here's the girlie version on ebay for over $200!) I had to get it :)

The hubby and I lugged it to the register, and this beauty of a chest is now my treasure:

Lane Stowaway Chest, Good Samaritan ($20)
It's a perfect fit in our bedroom, too! I have my books in it now, and it's like my own little library :)

At first, I was set on sanding it down and refinishing it, but after some cleaning I like it as is. I love finding beautiful things for affordable prices! It's the best part of thrifting for me :)

Always,
Amanda

Ray Ban-Tastic!

Oh my. This weekend, I thrifted real Ray Ban New Wayfarers. (!!!!!!!!!!!) I never, ever thought I would find something this great at a thrift store, and I certainly wasn't expecting it from an impromtu thrift trip with my family in Florida! (More on the other neat thrift store we visited sometime this week, but I just couldn't wait to share what is probably my best find ever with you all :) )

Ray Ban New Wayfarers, Goodwill in Pensacola ($4.99!!!!)

Yup, these babies were a mere $4.99. I tried to be nonchalant about it when I asked to see them, but when I got them close and saw that they were real, I thought my huge smile would give away the crazy price! (I'm guessing whoever priced them meant to do $49.99, but accidently missed a 4, and the cashier couldn't have paid less attention...)

Whatever the reason for the price, I am so excited to have some really nice sunglasses! As much as I love my vintage collection, there's something to be said of super-quality, designer ones. Here's me "modeling" them last night, after arriving home from my crazy 24-hour trip to Florida that involved waking up at 3:50 a.m. on Saturday morning:

In other words, no matter how tired and plane-ride-exhausted I was, the $4.99 Ray Bans made me look (and feel!) much better :) I'll have more on the other thrift store and finds throughout the week!

Always,
Amanda

PS: Thanks so much for your kind comments about my dress(es)! It was kind of fun to dress up, I have to admit!

File This Under: Best Find Ever!

I had this feeling- I can't really explain it, but I think I have a thrifting sixth sense or something- that I should go to Goodwill on my break today.

Now, this is the same Goodwill that I found, and then lost, my precious JCrew flats I mentioned earlier. But this time I totally scored!

I not only found the most beautiful, perfect Dooney & Bourke bag for $4, but I also found a JCrew belt, a Louis Vuitton purse strap (don't know what I'll use it for yet, but I'll use it!), and the cutest brown pair of sloutchy boots!

Meet my new brown boots :) $2

I like how my new boots are sort of cowboy, sort of Native American... (it's not PC to say "Indian" in this case, is it?)

Anyway... and my D & B purse. Oh my. I saw it, and I totally fell in love. Even before I opened the flap and made the discovery that it was-gasp!-worth a whole lot more than $4!

Such a pretty bag, $4

And just so you can see it's real-ness in all it's glory...

Ahhhh. How I can I even hope to find anything great this weekend when I found so many treasures today? Let's hope this luck never runs out!

Always,

Amanda

What's Your Tribe?

Recently, I decided to Google "thrifting" to see what else was out there on the topic, and I found this Web site called tribe.net.

I may be the last on the boat here, but I'd never heard about it. Apparently, you can type in what you're interested in and you are connected with like people. Your own "tribe." A cool concept.

So, the tribe that came up in my results was the Thrifting Tribe. My favorite thread on the page is "Best Find Ever" which is pretty self-explanatory. It's amazing the treasures people have found in thrift stores!

The whole thing made me think- what has been my best find ever? I've gotten brand-new Isaac Mizrahi for Target stuff, brand-new in the plastic $25 tights for $1, my recent Beyonce-inspired grey jacket for $1... The list goes on. I think that just about everything I've gotten from thrift stores has been special and awesome to me at the time, and that's what it's all about for me.

To continually find quirky and interesting things for next-to-nothing is the reason I thrift. That and it's cheaper than shopping at regular stores!

Always,
Amanda
