Playing With Wire :)

When I found a bundle of vintage colorful wire at West End Antiques for two bucks, I knew I'd find some use for it! It's just so colorful and unusual :)

I did play with it a bit the other day, and I came up with these:

I love the little heart rings I made! Because the wire is covered in a paper-like material, I can wear them too :)

Estate Sale DIY: Chambray Bag

While I didn't find a perfect chambray shirt this weekend, I did find a chambray Capezio bag from the 1980s! Sunday I went back to the two-weekend estate sale from last weekend, and they had opened up all of the outbuildings :) I felt all American Pickers (my new fave show) digging through all the old dusty things!

When I unearthed a Capezio bag that most likely had been in this outbuilding since the 80s, I had to have it! Needless to say, it wasn't in great shape. After some OxyClean, TLC, and a round in the washer, it's nearly back to it's original goodness!

DIY Quilt Patch

This weekend, I've had plenty of time to catch up on various projects I've been meaning to get to. One of these is patching the one little burn hole in my $12 Goodwill Outlet quilt.

I knew that I wanted to use a piece of an old shirt or sweater to mend it, and I found the perfect thing in a thrifted Christmas sweater! I just cut a piece into a heart and hand-sewed it on. Check it out:

Done! I like that it's a little imperfect and homemade looking. A sweet little patch, and when I want to change it, I can just cut the stitches out and try another design :)

A Simple Update to a Cool Find

You know how I've mentioned that I wanted a vintage Samsonite overnight bag? Totally found one at Goodwill Outlet last weekend! Unfortunately, it's a slightly boring shade of oatmeal. So I thought I'd go all middle-schooler on it and whipped out a Sharpie....

Done! (At least for now :))

DIY JCrew-Like Sparkles

Sunday, I opened up my JCrew Holiday catalog and saw these really festive flats! Oh, how I want them :)

But, being over $100, they are waaaaaay out of my price range! And what does that mean? DIY time!

I pulled out a $4 pair of thrifted flats that I liked well enough but hadn't worn since Halloween. And here's what I came up with:

I just got some glue and some sequins and went to town! While I loved the effect of just the sequins, they wouldn't stay on with just the glue. Thus the gold sheen on top of the finished pair- I had to get my gold nail polish out and do a coat over the top. And now the shiny-ness is on there for good!

Dollar Tree DIY

This is the original black hoodie I got at the Dollar Tree:

Then I glued on some old lace down the sides and around the pockets to keep it steady while I sewed, and then sewed it on:

Finally, I was finished! For just $1, I had a unique (sort-of crazy-looking-lady) hoodie!

DIY: Faux Ray-Ban Sunnies

My Faux-Bans, Before and After

I got these plain-looking sunnies at Family Thrift a couple weekends ago, thinking I could do something fun with them. Then I saw the new "artist series" Ray-Bans by Maya Hayuk in the November issue of ELLE, and I knew just what I was going to do!

There was really only one step in this DIY: Take out different nail polishes and dot them randomly on the fronts of the frames. (And let dry before you wear them!)
