A Thrifty Halloween

Happy Halloween, everyone! I will have a post tomorrow with my Halloween outfit, but I'll give you a major hint:

Photo from this blog
Lol. Let's just say...sweater with sweater clip, check. Vintage brooch, check. Crazy glasses with glasses holders, check. Pencil in hair, check!

Have a good one, everyone!

Thrift Store Regularity

For everything I look out for while thrifting (flats, sunnies, pins, etc.), there are some things I see literally everywhere. Here are a few:

1) Karen Scott brand anything...shoes, shirts, crazy Halloween/Christmas/other holiday vests. I have never, ever seen this brand in a retail store, but I see it in every single thrift store I go to. If only it were JCrew.

2) Overpriced Vera Bradley bags. Now, I have bought some VB bags at thrift stores, but always for about $1 or $2. Never $30! You can find them on eBay for way less than that!

3) Vases full of plastic jewelry...for $80. This is pretty much a Goodwill thing, but I see it at all the Goodwills I go to, so I'm including it. Who in their right mind would pay $80 for a vase of plastic jewelry?!? I mean, I have no problem paying 50 cents for a cool vintage pin or a neat bangle...but most of the stuff in those vases looks pretty useless. For $2, though? I would buy it!

4) Grandma-type orthopedic shoes. They are everywhere. Now if only more Grandmas would buy/give away JCrew flats...in a size 8 pretty please!

5) Super-cute clothes that I would love to wear, but in kid sizes! Since when do kids have cuter clothes than we do? I mean, just look at this little jacket! It was at Goodwill Outlet, so it would've been less than a dollar.

6) Super-long black leather trench coats. Now, some really tall, really cool girls could probably pull this off, but at 5'3", I steer clear of the "I'm about to do something shady in my black trench coat" look. But hey, if you can pull it off, my hat's off to you!

7) Used ash trays. With ash still in them. Um, do I even need to explain how wrong this is? At least clean it out before you donate it!

Just had to get that out! Here's to hoping I find less of this stuff and more great stuff today :) (Oh...and Happy Halloween! I decided at the last minute to be a _______, and rounded up an outfit from Goodwill...I'll make sure to post it tomorrow! Maybe I'll give you a little hint with another post today :))

Thrift By Color: Brownie Points

If there was ever a color I truly did not wear/didn't like, it was brown. Lately, that has all changed. I have found the beauty of brown- as a neutral in my pretty boots and as part of the craziness of my leopard print vest.

I'm almost loving brown as much as I love brownies!

Have a really great Friday everyone!

Just Another Thrifting Thursday...

Today was one of those days that had me itching to go thrifting. And since my local Goodwill is the closest thrift store to me, I jetted there after work. I wasn't too surprised to find a bunch of teenage boys searching through the women's clothing for Halloween costumes. Quite the sight!

Anyway. I found some pretty cool stuff, for less than $10 total:

Crazy Monkey Candle ($2); Vintage Duckie Nite Lite ($2); Cupcake Candle ($1); Heavy-Duty Boots ($4)

Even the hubby likes the crazy monkey candle! He got home from work, and the first thing he said was, "Cool! I like this! But we can't burn it...it'll have to sit on our mantle in our new place!"

Totally agree.

Have a great night-more thriftiness tomorrow!

To Etsy or Not To Etsy?

I have been thinking...I keep finding really great things (esp. shoes!) that just downright don't work for me/ I don't have enough room for. I would like to get your opinion on whether or not I should start selling on Etsy. Would you all be interested in cool vintage scarves, bags, shoes, pins, sunnies, cute little items, etc.?

Like, for instance, this cross-body vintage Coach bag:

Let me know- and have a great Thursday!

I Wish My Feet Wore Five Point Fives

I am just about ready to throw in the towel for good. Although I have found quite a few JCrew flats in my thrifting journey, I have not found any in my size. Take these, for example:

These are brand-spankin'-new red leather JCrew flats, which were at the Love of Jesus. I could just see these amping up my mostly-basics wardrobe, no problem.

Except one tiny detail: they were size 5 1/2! There is no way that my size 8 tootsies can squish into a 5 1/2 shoe.

Sigh.

Should I throw in the towel, or keep looking?

Have a great Wednesday (the week is almost over!).

Antique Finds!

Sunday's trip to Williamsburg led me to an antique store in an old gas station, where I got the cutest little wooden lap desk filled with treasures. These include vintage Christmas labels, Christmas post cards from the early 1900s, and a vintage pencil necklace.

I got the little butterfly holder at a thrift shop over in Williamsburg for $1.

I cannot describe how much I love this little lap desk!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone- more tomorrow!

Amanda

Green is Good

Probably the thing I love the most about Goodwill Outlet is that I can always find super-cute stuff for usually less than a dollar. I can't imagine walking into Dollar Tree and finding this jacket:

Old Navy Corduroy Jacket, Goodwill Outlet (<$1)

I think I'm going to treat it like a jean jacket and just throw it on over anything this fall :)

That's about all I got on Saturday...

The hubby and I ventured out to Williamsburg yesterday and went to a couple thrift stores and the most awesome antique store EVER. Think the very very best thrift store with awesome things that are still at thrift prices. I'll definitely be sharing those finds with you very soon!

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Studs and Mary Janes, Trains and Coaches

All right. Now that I've had a full night's sleep, I'm ready to show you all some pretty things from yesterday!

Here's what I got:

Samsonite Train Case, Family Thrift ($3); Studded Low Heels, Good Samaritan ($2); Vintage Coach Purse, Goodwill Outlet ($2); Mary Janes, Goodwill Outlet ($2)

I am well aware that I am forming quite the collection of Samsonite train cases. But they are just so perfect for organizing things! My new one has an adjustable mirror and plenty of pockets-great for holding my sunnies collection.

The studded low heels are just so cute, and they are brand new, beautiful leather. I feel so fancy when I slip them on!

I just love this vintage Coach purse, and for $2 I couldn't pass it up. I'm really loving cross-body bags for thrifting because I can use both hands to dig around, and it just seems safer to have it secure across me. And this cute little bag totally fits the bill.

These mary janes were also new- the size tags are still untouched on the bottom of these leather shoes. And they are so comfortable, I think they may rival my lace-up flats as my most comfy shoes ever.

I did find a couple more things that I'll show you tomorrow. Have a great rest of your weekend!

Amanda

My Cardie's Gray, The Skies Are Too.

Oh, my. What a day! I worked this morning, then went thrifting, then went to church and had dinner with the in-laws. Whew! What a busy, rainy, crazy day.

This is what I wore this afternoon/evening:

Necklaces, Family Thrift and Thrifty Quaker ($1 each); Vera Bradley Purse, Goodwill Outlet ($2); JCrew Cardie, Goodwill ($4); Pink Shirt, Goodwill ($3), Jeans, TJMaxx ($8); Peep-Toes, Goodwill Outlet ($1); Bangle, Love of Jesus (less than $1)

I got some really cool stuff today, even though we only went to a couple stores. I got another-yes, another- Samsonite train case. (Obsessed with them!) I also found a vintage Coach purse, some really cute shoes (Not JCrew. Boo.), some vintage pins, and some other random/fun stuff.

More on all that tomorrow sometime. Right now, I'm going to bed!

A One-Jacket-Woman No More!

When I lived in Florida, I never really had the need for more than one jacket. And my one jacket would live a double life- as a rain jacket and an oh-my-goodness-it's-under-60-degrees-out jacket.

Then I moved to Virginia, and there is jacket weather for many more months! Although I've found a couple at Love of Jesus, I've had the most luck at my local Goodwill, and I thought I'd share my latest three jackety friends :)

From Left: Pendleton Wool Jacket ($8); Vintage Member's Only Jacket ($4); Pendleton Linen Jacket ($4); All, Goodwill

Ever since I found the first Pendleton wool shirt at Goodwill Outlet a couple weeks ago, I've been kind of obsessed with the quality and loveliness. I'm so glad I found these two jackets, too!

And the Member's Only one is so comfy and perfect...now, if it would just get chilly enough to wear it!

I'm going to my Saturday thrift stores after I work today, so I'll definitely have some finds to show you tomorrow! :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

DIY: Faux Ray-Ban Sunnies

My Faux-Bans, Before and After

I got these plain-looking sunnies at Family Thrift a couple weekends ago, thinking I could do something fun with them. Then I saw the new "artist series" Ray-Bans by Maya Hayuk in the November issue of ELLE, and I knew just what I was going to do!

There was really only one step in this DIY: Take out different nail polishes and dot them randomly on the fronts of the frames. (And let dry before you wear them!)

Amanda

Thrift By Color: Black Friday

I like to think of black as my go-to neutral of choice. When in doubt, I choose black, whether in a purse, shoes, belt, suspenders...you get the picture.

Here are some of my favorite finds, which just so happen to be black:

From top left, clockwise: Old-man suspenders and wishbone belt, Goodwill; Gucci sunglasses case, Family Thrift; Cumberbund-as-belt, Goodwill; Tripod, FanTastic Thrift.

When I first posted about the tripod, I got a couple comments about how great of a deal I got on it ($1.75!). The funny thing is that I saw this exact same tripod at my local Goodwill a couple days later for $9!

Just goes to show you, even when it comes to thrift shopping it pays to shop around!

Have an excellent Friday!

The Shoes That Got Away

Say hello to the shoes that got away last Saturday:

The Gucci heels were $4 at Goodwill-new and my size, but also a narrow width. No way those shoes were fitting my non-narrow feet. Boo. The ones in the middle are H&M and they were at Goodwill Outlet for $1. They were, sadly, a size too small for me. And the Ferragamo heels were $3 at Love of Jesus. They were also a size too small.

And still no JCrew flats. But I am posting these shoes that got away in hopes that I'll find some even better this Saturday as I thrift my way through the afternoon. (I have to work in the morning.)
Wish me luck!

The Thrifty Quaker + More!

Yesterday, I found myself on the thrift store side of town for job training, and I got out in time to run through a couple of my faves and visit a new one: The Thrifty Quaker!

One of the hubby's friends told me about this tiny little place, and I was of course dying to check it out!

The Thrifty Quaker

I found some great things in this cute place: 3 old magazines (including the defunct Jane!) for 25 cents each, 3 bangles for $1, A tie-dye T for $2, and a crazy claw necklace for 75 cents.

I also visited Family Thrift, where I got the rest of the fun stuff below: 2 scarves (one is Oscar de la Renta!) for 75 cents each, elbow-length mint green gloves for $2, and the so-tacky-it's-awesome Antiques sweater for $1!

Fun stuff from Thrifty Quaker and Family Thrift

Even though I only had about an hour to jet through, I think I found some pretty cute stuff :)

I've got to get back to work, but I'll have some more fun stuff tomorrow!

Always,
Amanda

A Couple More of Saturday's Goodies

OK, OK... I promise this is the last day I am going to show you Saturday's finds :) I almost forgot that I finally found the Forever21-inspired bag from the first thrift-spiration weekend! I spotted it for 99 cents at FanTastic Thrift- that price makes even F21 look pricey!

Woven Bag, FanTastic Thrift ($0.99)

I also found this ring holder at FanTastic Thrift, for 99 cents. I am using it in my little train case to hold my bangles!

And, finally, the Vera Bradley ID case I found in a bin at Goodwill Outlet. I think the cashier charged me 50 cents for it :) (It's hard to tell how much things are there, since they price mostly by the pound!)

And that's pretty much it from this past Saturday! It only took me half the week to show you all everything I found :)

Up tomorrow... The things that got away on Saturday.
And Friday... A Thrift By Color + a DIY :)

Have a good rest of the week!

Amanda

Nothing Stops a Train

I totally found another train case Saturday! Although this one isn't a Samsonite (it doesn't even have a brand on it), it is smaller and ruffly and the perfect size for my bathroom. (My two bigger train cases now hold larger treasures.)

Here it is:

Train Case, Family Thrift ($2)

I was looking at my pics from Saturday, and I still have so much left to show you! I settled on the shoes I got and my "new" vintage pins and necklace for today:

From top left, clockwise: Sperry Top-Sider Penny Loafers, Goodwill Outlet ($1); Vintage Pins, All Good Samaritan Thrift ($0.25 each); Lace-up Flats, Goodwill Outlet ($1); Carousel Necklace, Family Thrift ($0.45)

I had been seeing lace-up shoes on almost every fashion blog I read, so when I saw these I snatched them up! They are totally me, since they are flat instead of heels like most others. I am a big fan of Sperry Top-Siders, so these penny loafers were a major find. I feel like I'm going to wear this necklace every day. I love it that much!

Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

They're Not Flats, But...

I did find some JCrew Saturday! I had been looking on eBay for a JCrew cardie, but either a) they're not in my size (ie: they are an xs or something crazy like that!) or b) are still super expensive. I got this super-soft, short sleeve grey cardie at Goodwill for $4:

At the end of the day, I thought the cardie was all I had found JCrew-wise, until I took a second look at this belt, $1 at Goodwill Outlet...

I know you can't see it in the picture, but it's also JCrew. I snatched it up for the hammered buckle and the leather detailing.

So, no flats yet, but I just know they are out there somewhere. I just have to keep looking!

More on Saturday's haul tomorrow!

Amanda

The Tacky Tourist Makes Her Mark

Why the title of this post? Look no further than what I wore today:

Left: Crazy Snuggie-like Sweatshirt, Goodwill ($2); Jeans, TJ Maxx ($8); Tights, Dollar Tree ($1); Shoes, Goodwill Outlet ($1); Purse, Goodwill ($4) Right: (What I had to change into 'cause it was sooo cold!) Grey Sweatshirt, Wal Mart ($5); Blue Shirt, Goodwill ($3); rest the same

Yeah. I know I look like some sort of crazy-weird tourist in both outfits, what with the sandals with socks, bag slung over my shoulder, and sweatshirts galore. But in some ways, I am still a tourist in this town. I've been here less than a year, and I still need my GPS to get anywhere, so I think I can get away with this get-up every once in awhile :)

Anyway. So today I was looking for JCrew flats again (denied, again) and a leather jacket (denied). What did I find? Only the most awesome things, ever! (Until next time, anyway.)

Here's what I found:

Another Samsonite Train Case! With the tray!, Love of Jesus ($2); Polaroid Camera w/two packs of film!!!, Antique Store ($6); Pirate Cup, Antique Store ($0.50); Skeleton Key, Antique Store ($2)

So, yeah. I found not only a Polaroid camera, but film!! They don't sell it in stores anymore, so it's hard to find, and expensive if you do find it. Most of the treasures above were found at an Antique store near a thrift store I tried to check out today, which ended up being closed on Sundays. It had this whole back room of stuff for a dollar or two, which I thought was really cool.

The train case I found at Love of Jesus, and I got it, even though I have two other ones now! They are so great for organization and I love the look of them :)

More on my Saturday finds tomorrow- I have to finish some laundry!

Always,
Amanda

Random Treasures

I still have so much more to show you all from yesterday! I thought today I'd show off the random things I got- the kinds of things that I never would've thought to wish for, but that I totally fell in love with :)

From top left, clockwise: Vintage (working) Pencil Sharpener, Good Samaritan ($1.25); Someone's Fridge Magnet Collection!, Good Samaritan ($1); 1960s issue of Cosmo, Love of Jesus ($0.25); Leather Briefcase, Goodwill Outlet ($1)

I know, I know. Totally random, right? But our fridge really lacks magnets, and when I saw this full bag of them for a dollar, I couldn't resist! And the pencil sharpener? So cute and perfect for the desk we'll finally have in our new apartment. What's not awesome about such an old magazine? The ads alone are worth 25 cents! The briefcase...well, honestly, it reminds me of my dad, and I just love it. It makes me feel so grown-up :)

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Amanda

Tuckered Out!

Wow, what a day! I went to so many thrift stores, I lost count. And the funny thing is that I got most of my best stuff at my first stop: Goodwill Outlet!

I got: Sperry Top-Siders, lace-up flats, a leather briefcase, a Vera Bradley ID case, 2 Louis Vuitton (not real, I'm sure, but cute!) clutches, 2 evening bags, a JCrew belt, an 80s belt, some typewriter paper ('cause it looked cool), and The Outsiders book.

And that was just at G.O. :) My total: $15.oo.

This is what I wore to thrift today, since it was chilly outside:

Brown Sweater, Goodwill Outlet (<$1); Leopard Print Vest, Family Thrift ($7); Bird Pin, Good Samaritan ($0.50); Boyfriend Jeans, Goodwill ($4); Boots, Goodwill ($2)

Some (yes, only some) of the bags I got today:

From top left, clockwise: Beaded Bag, Love of Jesus ($0.50); LV Bags, Goodwill Outlet ($1 each); Mesh Bag, Goodwill Outlet ($0.50); Leather Evening Bag, Goodwill Outlet ($1)

Whew! I'm tired just thinking about today :) I'll def have pictures and a better recap of the day for the next couple days... for now, some blog reading and dinner with the hubby are in my future!

Always,

Amanda

What I'm Wanting: Vintage Evening Bags, JCrew Shoes, Etc.

Like I was saying a couple days ago, vintage evening bags are one of my new obsessions. I was looking around on Etsy and found this one:

Photo via the Etsy listing linked above.

I totally want something like this to add to my collection! It is so bright and fun and adorable.

What I'm also looking for as I thrift this weekend: more cool sunnies, the perfect leather jacket, vintage pins, and... some JCrew flats! (I know this is kind of pushing my luck, but hey, you never know! Still pining for those ones that got away...)

Some more eBay JCrew flats, for around $20 with shipping. I know I can find them cheaper!

Have a great weekend everyone, and wish me luck today :)

Bubbles!

You know those big, colorful, tasteless-after-two-minutes balls of gum?

Yeah, not a fan.

BUT... Oh, the smell of fresh bubble gum. Love it. And tonight, after a super-long day, I am lighting my new (Goodwill, $3) Bubble Gum candle and relaxing.

'Cause what could be better than bubble gum that never loses it's bubble gum-ness?

You cannot deny the awesomeness of this :)

Have a good night! Can't wait for some killer thrifting tomorrow!

Thrift by Color: Think Pink

When I was younger, I was a total tomboy. And in some ways, I still am. (I hardly ever wear dresses, can't walk in heels, etc.) But one thing I have come around on: the color pink. Love it.

Here are some of my favorite pink finds:

Vera Bradley Bag, Goodwill Outlet ($2); Pink Bangle, Love of Jesus (less than $1); Computer Cover, Goodwill ($2); JCrew Belt, Goodwill ($1)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

File This Under: Best Find Ever!

I had this feeling- I can't really explain it, but I think I have a thrifting sixth sense or something- that I should go to Goodwill on my break today.

Now, this is the same Goodwill that I found, and then lost, my precious JCrew flats I mentioned earlier. But this time I totally scored!

I not only found the most beautiful, perfect Dooney & Bourke bag for $4, but I also found a JCrew belt, a Louis Vuitton purse strap (don't know what I'll use it for yet, but I'll use it!), and the cutest brown pair of sloutchy boots!

Meet my new brown boots :) $2

I like how my new boots are sort of cowboy, sort of Native American... (it's not PC to say "Indian" in this case, is it?)

Anyway... and my D & B purse. Oh my. I saw it, and I totally fell in love. Even before I opened the flap and made the discovery that it was-gasp!-worth a whole lot more than $4!

Such a pretty bag, $4

And just so you can see it's real-ness in all it's glory...

Ahhhh. How I can I even hope to find anything great this weekend when I found so many treasures today? Let's hope this luck never runs out!

Always,

Amanda

The One That Got Away: JCrew Flats

The other night, I was wandering through the Goodwill by my apartment and I spotted the most perfect green JCrew flats.

I practically ran to them! I've been searching for JCrew flats on eBay, thrift stores, basically anywhere they don't cost an arm and a leg.

I was excited to see that they were size 8 1/2. (I wear an 8, but sometimes 8 1/2 works.)

I tried them on. I walked around, and around. And they just wouldn't stay on my feet. Too big.
Ugh. The same exact green flats that got away are listed on eBay here (shown above) but, sigh, in a 9.

What have you all missed out on?

Amanda

Featured on Toronto Yard Sale Snoop!

I am so excited to let you all know I was featured on another cool thrifting blog: Toronto Yard Sale Snoop in this post. :) (It's a great blog- you should check it out if you haven't already.)

This is so exciting for me- that other people (that I didn't already know!) read and enjoy Another's Treasure.

I just wanted to say thank you so much to TYSS for posting about me, and thank you all for reading!

New Obsessions

It all started with this past Saturday's finds. Well, no, back up.

It all started with one of my most favorite people in the world: my Grammy.

She has had this tradition for her children and grandchildren for some time: we can all "put our name" on something of hers that we are especially fond of. And when she's gone, it is ours. I don't want to think about a time when my Grammy will be gone- ever.

Thankfully, over the years, I've inherited a couple things early. One of these things is Grammy's mom's vintage gold evening bag. Although I've only carried it a couple times, I've always kept it close to me.

My "New" Vintage Evening Bag, Family Thrift ($0.99); My Great-Grandma's Purse

Now, fast-forward to this past Saturday. I found a vintage beaded evening bag at Family Thrift for a mere 99 cents! And, really, how could I pass that up?

I can picture my future vintage evening bag collection- hanging on the wall all pretty and fancy.

And the vintage pins and cool sunnies I found Saturday have also begun a mild obsession with both items. I mean, what modern girl can't use some neat accessories to amp up her wardrobe?

My current vintage sunnies collection: More to come, I'm sure!

Amanda

Ah, Columbus!

Don't you just love fun holidays where you get the day off but don't have any celebratory obligations? Well, I do! Yesterday was definitely one of those great days, too :) I dragged the hubby back to my fave thrift stores (that I usually go to on Saturdays) and found some really great things :)

Here's what I wore:
Moto-like Jacket, Love of Jesus ($3); Cato Top, Goodwill ($2); Old Navy Jeans, Goodwill ($4); Woven Flats, Love of Jesus ($3); Vera Bradley Purse, Goodwill Outlet ($2!)

I was excited to wear some of my recent finds for the first time- especially the super-comfy jacket and my authentic Vera Bradley purse that I got at the Goodwill Outlet for $2! The funniest thing about it was that the lady that rang up my stuff there was all, "Ma'am, now you know this bag is going to be $2...do you still want it?"

Um, yeah. :)
Anyway. I found some cool things yesterday that I'm dying to show off:

Some great pins to add to my growing collection: All from Family Thrift (between $1 and $2-the flower, the butterfly, and the opal and gold pin) or Good Samaritan ($0.50 each- the rooster, the pear, and the double rings.)

And some more:

From top left, clockwise: Silk Scarf, FanTastic Thrift ($1); Gucci Sunglasses Case, Family Thrift ($0.45); Super-Cool Sunglasses Case, FanTastic Thrift ($0.75); Tripod!, FanTastic Thrift ($1.75)

I'd say that I had a pretty successful day :) I did get another pair of sunglasses too, but I'm going to post about that (and my other new obsessions) tomorrow!

Thrift Crawl Destination: Orlando, FL

Goodwill Orlando, Photo via infoUSA

I spent four (great!) years of my life in Orlando, Florida, going to the University of Central Florida, where I graduated with a degree in journalism.

However, it seems like the time I spent frequenting thrift stores is more useful to me now! (Although, yes, I do write this blog, so I guess I use some of my journalism knowledge.) Anyway, these are my former haunts, and yes, I do miss them!

1) Thriftko
1442 State Road 436 Ste 1028, Casselberry, FL 32707

This place is HUGE, a little smelly, and really random. But they do have great prices and, if you dig, some fun stuff! I especially have had luck finding back issues of magazines (Lucky! Domino! Allure!) for 25 cents, cute bags for a couple bucks, and really great vintage clothes. So if you can get over the dingy-ness, you can dig up some treasure for sure!

2) The Salvation Army Thrift Store
1330 Semoran Blvd.Casselberry, FL 32707

Self-explanatory. Most people have been in a Salvation Army. This one is the largest one I've ever been to, though! And I've found some really cute old sunnies there. When my former roomie (Miss you, Steph!) and I were bedecking our half-bath senior year, we came here for beach-themed treasures- and everything ended up being half off!

3)The Auxiliary White Elephant Thrift Shop
2411 Aloma Ave.Winter Park, FL 32792

I really like this cute little thrift store. It is so small, they only take cash, so come prepared! But I have found really great vintage clothing, dishes, old Polaroid cameras, little vintage greeting cards, and much more. It is definitely worth it to stop in and take a look around.

4) Goodwill
10525 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32801

This Goodwill, although still slightly musty smelling, is a great source for new stock from Target. It has the largest Target section (right at the front) of any Goodwill I've ever been to. It also has a fairly large shoe section and is a great source for funny Halloween costumes! (I got a VERY 80s prom dress there freshman year of college and went as Miss Prom 1985. Hilarious.)

Boo
As I'm looking at directories to remind myself of my frequent haunts from college, I realize that I didn't ever make it out to a lot of thrift stores in the area. Boo. But if you'd like to check out more, you should go to: thethriftshopper.com and search Winter Park, Florida or Orlando, Florida. While you're there, search for the thrift stores in your area- it gives you a pretty decent list!

Have a great Monday, everyone! (And if you're off work, like me, have a good day off!)

Amanda

Por Homme

Although I usually get clothes or accessories in my thrifting adventures, I sometimes find little housewares or gifts. (I live in a tiny place right now, otherwise I would get furniture, larger housewares, etc.)

As I've mentioned before, I sometimes drag my kinda-willing hubby along for the thrifting ride (which I did all day yesterday...sorry, Josh!), and I thought he deserved a prize or two for his patience :)

Vintage Whiskey Decanter: $4, Salvation Army

90s K'Nex box, thoroughly cleaned, Good Samaritan ($0.75) = Hubby's New Lunch Box!

On a different trip, to our local Goodwill, I found these two perfect wooden bowls for $1.25 each. The perfect size for little knick-knacks. As you can see, we have some random stuff in them!

Little Wooden Bowls: $1.25 each, Goodwill

So until we move into our bigger apartment (November!! Yay!!), I will have to be satisfied with little home decor/hubby presents such as these.

For the Record

Vintage Record: $1, Love of Jesus Thrift

The summer after my freshman year in college, I had my first full-time summer job. I saved most of what I earned that summer for my sophomore year of college, but I did have one splurge: a record player.

I am so glad I got it! I've lugged it to two different dorms and three apartments, and it is with me still.

I love to find old records at thrift stores- usually for a dollar or less. The 70s albums remind me of my dad- of my little bro and I riding with him in his grey Jetta listening to the now-defunct Coast 107.3 70s station in Brandon, FL.

That is why, when I saw this Fleetwood Mac album at Love of Jesus Thrift, I grabbed it. I can just pop it in and travel back in time. Maybe not to the 70s, but to the Jetta rides of my youth.

Thrift By Color: The Reject Pile!

Happy Friday everyone! For this week's thrift by color, I thought I'd share some of the craziest patterns I saw this past Saturday. (I half-loved these...and half understood why they were discarded by their original owners!)

These were found in Goodwill Outlet, Love of Jesus, and Good Samaritan Thrift :)

Have an excellent Friday everyone!

Does anyone else have a three-day weekend? Hope so!

I Know, I Know. But I'm Obsessed.

I really need to get to bed, but I was on eBay and I saw this Samsonite train case in a pretty green:

I know that I've already posted on this, but I am really in love with these! It will be so perfect for holding all of my treasures...

And if I don't find one this weekend, I guess I can always get this one! (Although I'm sure I can get it for less than the current going price of $10.99 including shipping.)

Wish me luck!
