A Hippie Halloween :)

I was originally going to be a cowgirl for Halloween, but I ended up being a hippie! I think my father-in-law said it best:

"You just look like you! You were born in the wrong decade!"

Ha ha, very funny :) I know I do lean toward hippie outfits every once in awhile, though!

Hippie Wig with Headband, Wal Mart ($8); Peace Glasses, Halloween Store ($2)
The funny thing is that the wig I got looks a lot like my hair used to when it was longer! It's such a big difference from my super-short hair!

Vintage Tee, Goodwill; Bell Bottoms, Goodwill; Vest, Halloween Store; Peace Necklace, Halloween Store; Mocs, Target; Pin, Good Samaritan; Purse, Goodwill Outlet
I was able to use some things I already had (the bell-bottoms, the purse, the shirt, and the pin) and add Halloween store and Wal Mart finds for a costume on the cheap!

Unfortunately, shortly after these photos were taken, I started feeling sick :( I think I may be coming down with something, so I'm trying to fight it off with lots of sleep, soup, tea, and water. Being sick is never fun!

Always,
Amanda

Happy Halloween!

Hey everyone! I'm going to post more photos and details from our Halloween on Tuesday, but I thought I'd post a little something tonight :)
I wonder if you can guess what the hubby is supposed to be?

Happy Halloween from Amanda and Josh!

My Thrifting Outfit: Headless Halloween

Although I am choosing to make this seem like an arty Halloween outfit shot, cutting off my head was completely unintentional :) Gotta love trying to take a super-quick photo while a curious neighbor is looking on!

Anyway, here's what I wore on the Tuesday Goodwill Outlet trip that netted the fabulous Choos:

80s Tee: Goodwill; Dotted Shirt as Vest, Goodwill; Jeans, Goodwill; Minnetonka Sandals, Goodwill Outlet; D & B Bag, Goodwill; Necklace, Goodwill Outlet (100% Thrifted!)
Can we just talk about how busy Goodwill has been this month? I swear the parking lot has been stuffed full whenever I go! I bet this time of year is when it makes the most profits :)

While we're talking Halloween, I decided not to be a cowgirl after all. With my short hair, I looked a little too cowboy, so I'm taking a whole new route! I'll definitely be showing you pictures next week :)

Amanda

Halloween Fun and Thrifting Gold!

Hey everyone! I am totally resting today, since it's been a long week and I had a long day of thrifting/church/Halloween fun yesterday.

Speaking of yesterday's thrifting, I found a bunch of really great things :) I did find some little treasures that I'm planning to sell in my upcoming Etsy shop (once I get into my new apartment, that is.)
I will post more this week from yesterday's adventures, but till then, here's my costume from yesterday, totally thrifted! (I was a schoolteacher :))

A Thrifty Halloween

Happy Halloween, everyone! I will have a post tomorrow with my Halloween outfit, but I'll give you a major hint:

Photo from this blog
Lol. Let's just say...sweater with sweater clip, check. Vintage brooch, check. Crazy glasses with glasses holders, check. Pencil in hair, check!

Have a good one, everyone!

Amanda

Thrift Store Regularity

For everything I look out for while thrifting (flats, sunnies, pins, etc.), there are some things I see literally everywhere. Here are a few:

1) Karen Scott brand anything...shoes, shirts, crazy Halloween/Christmas/other holiday vests. I have never, ever seen this brand in a retail store, but I see it in every single thrift store I go to. If only it were JCrew.

2) Overpriced Vera Bradley bags. Now, I have bought some VB bags at thrift stores, but always for about $1 or $2. Never $30! You can find them on eBay for way less than that!

3) Vases full of plastic jewelry...for $80. This is pretty much a Goodwill thing, but I see it at all the Goodwills I go to, so I'm including it. Who in their right mind would pay $80 for a vase of plastic jewelry?!? I mean, I have no problem paying 50 cents for a cool vintage pin or a neat bangle...but most of the stuff in those vases looks pretty useless. For $2, though? I would buy it!

4) Grandma-type orthopedic shoes. They are everywhere. Now if only more Grandmas would buy/give away JCrew flats...in a size 8 pretty please!

5) Super-cute clothes that I would love to wear, but in kid sizes! Since when do kids have cuter clothes than we do? I mean, just look at this little jacket! It was at Goodwill Outlet, so it would've been less than a dollar.

6) Super-long black leather trench coats. Now, some really tall, really cool girls could probably pull this off, but at 5'3", I steer clear of the "I'm about to do something shady in my black trench coat" look. But hey, if you can pull it off, my hat's off to you!

7) Used ash trays. With ash still in them. Um, do I even need to explain how wrong this is? At least clean it out before you donate it!

Just had to get that out! Here's to hoping I find less of this stuff and more great stuff today :) (Oh...and Happy Halloween! I decided at the last minute to be a _______, and rounded up an outfit from Goodwill...I'll make sure to post it tomorrow! Maybe I'll give you a little hint with another post today :))

Amanda
