A Little Piece of the 90s

You know that nostalgic feeling about the era you grew up in? The 1990s is that for me. I love things from the 90s- the music, (some of) the clothes, and the shoes. When I found these Jantzen slip-ons, I had to have them!

They have this great cushioning on the backs to prevent blisters, and I just love the courd material and green bottoms! They went perfectly with my casual Easter outfit:

And, just for kicks, my Easter outfit:

Striped Shirt, Goodwill Outlet; Green Short Sleeve Sweater, Goodwill; Jean Shorts, Goodwill Outlet; Shoes, Love of Jesus; Sunnies, Salvation Army (100% Thrifted!)

We went to church for Easter on Saturday night, so Easter Sunday called for casual egg-hunting attire. The weather was warm and pretty perfect :) I was super-comfy in these weird jean shorts that are actually like bell-bottoms...they are probably also from the 90s!

Hope everyone's week is going well! I personally can't wait till the weekend :)

Amanda

Sunglass Showdown

Remember how I said I found the exact sunglasses I was looking for? Deadstock 1980s colorful perfect sunglasses? I did! I also found a pair of red cat-eye 80s-does-50s ones. Usually not my style, but when I tried them on, I had to get them!

The question: Which do you like better?

1980s Sunglasses, both Salvation Army

I'm kind of loving the cat-eyes, but they are pretty out-there. I'll be sure to debut my other finds throughout the week, and I'll update the etsy shop too. It's going to be a long week at work for me, but I'll make the time! (If you think about it, could you say a little prayer for me that the week will go by fast and be good? I'd appreciate it!)

Hope everyone's Easter was great!

Amanda

My Thrifting Outfit: Go Navy

I took you guys' advice and rolled up the sleeves on my sailor jacket and paired it with bright pink :) And I agree, it was much more wearable- I didn't even get any weird stares! That said, it was way too hot yesterday for it, so I ended up changing about halfway through the day.

Anyway, here's my thrifting outfit:

Sailor Jacket, Estate Sale; Shirt, Goodwill; Jeans, Goodwill; Purse, Goodwill; Shoes, Love of Jesus; Sunnies, Love of Jesus

So I found some pretty great clothes yesterday! We're talking red jeans, awesome early 90s slip-on shoes, numerous shirts, and an awesome spring cardigan with bell sleeves! No overalls, though.

Oh, and I found the perfect sunglasses too! And some extras for the shop! So expect to see those very soon :) Hope everyone has a happy Easter :)

Always,
Amanda

What I'm Wanting: 80s Sunnies and Overalls!

Thank you for your comments and emails yesterday about Rosco. I really, really appreciate your support and kindness. It helped me a lot, and I know I will feel better soon.

So, on to thrifty things. I never did find those overalls last weekend, but I am determined to find some! They will be the perfect summertime throw-on-and-go item, and goodness gracious would it be nice to have an outfit shot without the same four pairs of jeans!

Also, I'm looking for the perfect pair of 80s sunnies. Perfect= nice color, the shape below, and not scratched.

I love these from this etsy listing

Wish me luck! Nothing gets me past a bad week like some great thrifting :) The only thing that would make it better? If you all could magically join me!

Always,
Amanda

Vintage Bikes

In an effort to cheer myself up and not sound so darn dreary on this little blog, I am going to share a picture I took of old bikes at a flea market last weekend. I don't even know where the flea market was, I just stopped on the way to Fredericksburg when I saw the sign! I had to take a picture of these awesome vintage bikes:

I'll Miss You, Old Friend

This has absolutely nothing to do with thrifting, but I just don't think I can write about much today. My dog Rosco, who my family got when I was in 8th grade, had to be put down yesterday. He's been sick, and it was time. While I understand this, it's still really hard for me, because he was down in Florida with my family and I am up here in Richmond. I didn't get to say goodbye. :(

Here's a picture I took of him the last time I saw him, in September:

He was just a great dog, and I loved him so much. Although I wish I could've said goodbye in person, the next best thing was to say goodbye here. So, bye Rosco. I'll miss you dragging me around the block on our walks, watching you run around the backyard in the sun, and playing tug-of-war with your toys. I'll miss you, old friend.

Always,
Amanda

A Little Sailor Jacket

At the estate sale I went to this past Saturday, I saw all sorts of pretty things! There were closets full of vintage clothing, pretty purses, and shoes in my size :)

The one thing I haven't shown you that I got is this great Laura Ashley sailor jacket, simply because it is bewildering to me.

Laura Ashley Jacket, Estate Sale ($2)

It's so cute, though! I can totally see it this summer, over a sweet little tank top at the beach. The problem is that whenever I put it on, I feel like I'm in some sort of play about old-time Navy sailors!

In other words, I need your help! How can I wear this adorable cropped sailor jacket without feeling like it's a costume? I'm sure it can be done, but I'm drawing a blank :)

Thanks for your help!

Always,
Amanda
