Seeing Spots

I'm pretty sure that leopard print shoes have been finding me...

So, Thanksgiving is tomorrow!! We leave to Florida bright and early tomorrow morning, and I just can't wait :)

Thrifted Favorites: Butter Yellow and Leopard Print!

Since about a year ago, I've been searching for the perfect vintage flight bag. I found a tan one and a blue one back then, but I really wanted a buttery yellow version!

My fruitful thrifting on Thursday produced just the ticket, as well as another thing I've had on my list: leopard print flats!

I am so in love with these flats, too! They remind me of these Stubbs and Wootton ones that are beautiful but pricey :)

The hubby and I are headed back to the thrifts today, in hopes of finding the last few Christmas gifts to bring to Florida and a 'guy find' for next Friday's post! (He hasn't had much thrifting luck lately, I'm afraid!)

Leopard Print Jimmy Choo's

Yup, you read that right! I thrifted a pair of kitten heel leopard print Jimmy Choo's at Goodwill Outlet on Tuesday!!!

They aren't in the best shape (the kitten heels need new bottoms; the edges are worn), but heck, they're Jimmy Choo heels for two bucks! What do you think? Best find ever?

There they were, sitting at the bottom of one of the shopping carts filled with shoes. The print caught my eye, and when I saw the brand I grabbed them and walked away to get a closer look. They are so high-quality and so pretty that I just want to put them on a shelf and stare!

They actually fit me too, so maybe I'll try to find someone to fix the kitten heels and I'll wear them somewhere special :)

A Chunky Necklace and Furry Boots

With my newly short hair, I find that I'm wanting large accessories. Good thing for my sizable necklace collection! And this chunky beaded necklace I pulled from the Goodwill Outlet bins on Saturday is just perfect :) I actually grabbed quite a few of them, so they'll be up in the etsy shop soon.

And check out these vintage snow boots! They are fuzzy on top, comfy inside, and super warm :) Hopefully it won't snow here in Richmond again this year, but these will keep me toasty when it gets chilly outside!

The Vintage Bowling Shoes of My Dreams!

My mom and I had such a great time thrifting Saturday! She was a pro- pulling out great things from the Goodwill Outlet bins and even finding some green leather shoes for herself at Good Samaritan :)

My favorite find of the day was a perfectly awesome pair of vintage bowling shoes in my size!

I can't wait to wear them :) I feel like their slight quirkiness matches my new haircut! (Thanks, by the way, for the nice comments about it. I like it, but it's taking a bit to get used to!)

A Real Fly Bunny

I seem to be currently obsessed with old stuffed animals, but it's like they find me! When I spotted an old (probably 30s or 40s) Gund bunny, I had to grab him :)

While some collectors only search out perfect old things, I think I prefer well-loved items. Something that has a history and a story is so much more interesting than if it were kept in it's box on a shelf for all those years.

On an almost opposite note, check out these flats I thrifted at Goodwill Outlet by Fly London! They fit perfectly and are so comfortable.

While I may like my thrifted vintage items to be well-loved, with my thrifted shoes I prefer the just-right, broken-in feel. These are perfection!

And honestly, what's cooler than shoes with flies on them?! (Not real ones, of course.)

Clog Mania

Trends in fashion are fun, and they change all the time. However, my opinion on the matter is that you should wear what works for you- what you're comfortable in and what makes you feel good, despite the current popularity of some styles. (Like harem pants. Not for everyone.)

Of course, there are always moments when you just can't help but pick up a trendy item at a thrift store. It's a cheap and easy way to find out if that thing works for you. All this to say that I thrifted these wooden-heeled clog wedges Saturday:

Guess what? I can barely walk in them! I shouldn't be surprised, since I'm a flats girl 99% of the time, but I just had to try. Some of my favorite bloggers pull them off beautifully, but they're just not me. I'm having a blast trying to walk around my apartment in them, though! (Pretty hilarious :) )

Some current trends I've thrifted and ended up loving, like stripes, polka-dots, fringe, boater hats and oxfords. These all fit into my tomboyish-quirky-comfy style while adding just the right amount of girliness in. Clog wedges, not so much.

I guess we all have a thrifting fail every once in awhile! Next time, I'm going to try to walk in a pair of shoes instead of just making sure they fit :)

Pretty Finds and Something Exciting!

First off, the exciting news! I have been thinking about it for quite awhile, and last night I finally went ahead and set it up. What, you ask? A companion blog called 'Things We Thrifted'! The beautiful leather Liz Claiborne bag and the awesome 80s Sam and Libby sandals I found Saturday are both a wonderful shade of milk chocolate brown. Such a lovely color!

These sandals are super comfy (always a plus!) and breezy enough for this oven-hot summer we're having here in Richmond :) I couldn't wait to put them on and try them out!

I don't have much more to say today, actually. Not going to all my favorite thrifts Saturday threw me off a bit, and I only came home with a couple of things. (Although the hubby made it out with some treasures that he'll be sure to share on Friday!)

Chucks, Birks, and a Purse

I've always been a Converse girl. Well, at least since 9th grade, when my good pal Lindsay got some and I thought they were the coolest thing ever!

Imagine my excitement when they brought out new bins of shoes at Goodwill Outlet Saturday, and there sat brand new Chucks- in my size!

Naturally, I grabbed them and hi-tailed it away from the crazies throwing shoes everywhere as they dug. I'm not about to get yelled at by one of the extreme thrifters again :)

Love of Jesus also had a pair of shoes I've been wanting: good ol' comfy Birkenstocks in a cute variation of the originals.

I've sadly worn my thrifted fringed sandals down to nothing, so the Birks will be a great replacement for these last couple scorcher months :)

Lastly, I found this Chanel-like purse at Goodwill Outlet. I have always thought the copy-cat ones were kind of silly, but this one is more special feeling.

The faux-alligator top and black quilted bottom together make it a bit nicer than the usual peeling-vinyl plain ones. It's probably just the black/brown purse combo rubbing off on me from my mom :)

Sigerson Morrison and Tory Burch!

You know how I talked this whole talk about awesome finds from Saturday? Well, I wasn't joking: I found not one, but two pairs of $200 shoes for $2 each!!!!

I couldn't believe it when I looked into the Goodwill Outlet bin and saw two designer names sitting there together in my size. It was one of those thrifting moments you can barely believe!

Aren't they amazing? The Sigerson Morrison flats are so beautiful, but the Tory Burch ones are my favorite! I've been wearing them to work all week so far, and my feet haven't hurt one bit. The leather is so soft and comfy and wonderful :)

How is your week going so far? I'm excited about the long weekend, even though I have to work a half day Saturday.

A Little Piece of the 90s

You know that nostalgic feeling about the era you grew up in? The 1990s is that for me. I love things from the 90s- the music, (some of) the clothes, and the shoes. When I found these Jantzen slip-ons, I had to have them!

They have this great cushioning on the backs to prevent blisters, and I just love the courd material and green bottoms! They went perfectly with my casual Easter outfit:

Weeknight Goodwill Finds!

I've had a love-hate relationship with my local Goodwill. While I always love to see what they have, sometimes it's so picked over that there is nothing good left at all!

Yet, I still go back because of those times when I find a Dooney and Bourke bag or the perfect shoes. And this week was definitely a good week :)

Here are my finds:

1980s Beach Bag ($2); Target Leopard Flats ($4); 1990s Jean Jacket ($4): all Goodwill

I have always wanted to have more leopard print in my life, but I think I was a bit too scared of it! On great flats, it's the perfect touch of pattern without being too much. I will get plenty of use out of the beach bag when we go to Florida this summer :) It's made out of this rubbery material that's going to be perfect for wet, sandy beaches! And I hope to get a little wear out of the super-soft jean jacket before it gets too warm. (It's supposed to be in the upper 70s this weekend!)

I Finally Found the Perfect Oxfords...Well, Sort Of!

When I first spotted these oxfords, I couldn't believe it! I was at Love of Jesus on Saturday, and there they were- black and white and wingtip and perfect! My size, too. Except, well, in their former life, they were golf shoes!

They had "soft spikes" on the bottom that were removable, so no biggie. Until I got home, and the last couple refused to come off! So, I have to wait until I have the patience to get those last spikes off to wear them, but I figured I could as least show you all :)

I can just imagine how cool these will look with my spring outfits and how they'll spiff up my jeans-and-a-T combos! I like to think that I've gotten a little better at making my outfits more interesting, and ready access to awesome clothes and shoes at thrift stores has helped so much :)

I've Got Bows on the Brain, I Guess!

As most of you know by now, I am quite a tomboy :) I pretty much never wear dresses or skirts, and I can't walk well in heels! But for some reason, I've become enamored with bows. I've gotten my hair bows, and bow barrettes, and now...bow flats!

After I bought my rather large collection of vintage Ts, I thought I might should buy something girlie. When I found these, I was smitten!

Now, I know you can find these at thrift shops, and I often do, but they tend to run about a size small and I always find tiny ones. These are size 9, so they should be perfect :)

Anyway...I'm headed to my favorite thrifts again this morning with the hubby, so I will have finds and an outfit picture coming soon! Have a wonderful weekend!

I Get a Kick Out of You!

On Monday, the hubby and I went on a little adventure and ended up at an antique store about 30 minutes away from us called Smashapenny! Seriously! And it lived up to it's great name, too.

Full to the brim with treasures, including a really cool Woodstock Music and Art Fair pin, a box of random vintage treasures, and this awesome vintage shoe printing plate:

Isn't it fantastic? I had the hardest time choosing which shoe to pick, as there were eight or so. But this was the shoe I most likely would wear daily. I love the tassels, the shape, the soft brown color...

I'm not really sure what to do with it, though! Right now, it's perched on my desk by my little glass dog. It sure is pretty to look at :) For $4, I couldn't pass it up!

What I Found: Bakelite and Bows!

The hubby and I were (thankfully!) able to dig my car out of the snow yesterday morning and get out of the apartment for the day :) After a hardy breakfast at Waffle House, we set off to Goodwill, West End Antiques, Heritage Antiques, and The Vintage Store in Carytown. (Basically all the cool places that were open!)

I found some lovely things, including lots of little treasures, a little glass dog that reminds me of my dog back home, cool pins, geode bookends, a tiny set of drawers for tiny treasures, and these three things, my favorites of the day:

It was so nice to get out and thrift again, although I certainly can't wait to get out to Goodwill Outlet! I made the mistake of calling them Saturday, just to see if they were open during the snowstorm. They were. Of course, there was no way I could get there! Oh well. It will just be that much more exciting when I get to go this coming weekend :)

Call The Doc!

I had a really good thrift day yesterday, especially (as I could've predicted) at Goodwill Outlet. Not only did I find two more vintage Coach purses, but I found the most perfect Doc Martins! In my size! For $2!

I know it is fairly easy to find Docs at thrift stores, but it is hard to find them in almost-new condition, in your size, for $2. Man, am I happy :)

Now, don't get mad at me or think I'm crazy, but I also got...another Samsonite train case. I couldn't resist. For $3, it's light blue and so cute. I just plain love them. (Of course, my hubby thinks I am very strange indeed to have this obsession, but oh well!)

Fallin' For Funky Footwear

Since my old computer decided to up and die on me, I lost this week's thrift by color collage :(

So how about some funky shoes instead?

And here are some crazy-cool sandals/booties/shoes? that I got the other day at Goodwill! I think I may get to wear them once or twice before it gets too cold for awhile, but they will def be coming back out in the spring!

Board Games and Shoes

I don't know about you, but I love board games! Especially the old-fashioned ones. And when I found a mint-condition, still in the wrapper Boggle from the 70s, I snatched it up happily.

Other things I love finding at thrift stores are brand-new shoes. Vintage shoes are really fun and great, but there's just something about finding unworn shoes for $2! Especially super-cute woven Kimchi and Blue ones from Urban Outfitters :)
