Happy New Year, everyone! I can't think of a better way to start it off than with my favorite feature: Thrifty Blogger of the Month :)
This month's blogger is Sarah, of the blog
Five Camels. Her blog is really lovely- with posts featuring her beautiful home that she decorates on a budget, her thrifted finds, and anecdotes about married life. Plus, she lives in Richmond too!
I actually met Sarah this past summer at Goodwill Outlet- she had read about G.O. on this blog and now she loves it too :) I'm so glad she agreed to be January's thrifty blogger, since she's a woman after my own thrifty heart! Everyone, meet Sarah:

Another's Treasure: When did you first start thrift shopping, and why did you begin?
Five Camels: I was in grad school studying to be a Physician Assistant. (So I'd been in college for approximately 40 million years.) I had previously relied on a wardrobe full of flip flops and toe socks. Suddenly, I was on rotations and required to wear Grown Up Clothes... on a budget of negative 5 dollars. ;)
I cringed as I drove myself to Goodwill. Two hours later... I was a total convert. I left Goodwill with a bag full of Ann Taylor sweaters, J. Crew skirts, and Banana Republic pants. I've never been able to sleep in on a Saturday again. ;)
AT: What do you consider your best thrifted find ever?
FC: My practically new, white, slipcovered, Ikea Ektorp couch. Or maybe my $2 Uggs. Can I have two categories?

AT: What would be the ultimate coolest thing to see for a dollar at a thrift store?
FC: Another Ektorp couch? Man Town needs a new couch. But, coolest thing that might actually be a dollar? I have to say, I totally covet your leopard print Jimmy Choos. I'd like to find some of those in zebra, please!
AT: I'll keep a lookout! Do you have any tips on finding great things while thrifting?
FC: I am a total brand-whore. I rarely try anything on that's not absurdly expensive in the "real world." I also try to limit myself to things that are in excellent condition. I'll sew on a button, or mend a tiny hole, but if it needs more than that it stays on the rack. It's only a bargain if you're going to get some serious wear out of it!
