Sigerson Morrison and Tory Burch!

You know how I talked this whole talk about awesome finds from Saturday? Well, I wasn't joking: I found not one, but two pairs of $200 shoes for $2 each!!!!

I couldn't believe it when I looked into the Goodwill Outlet bin and saw two designer names sitting there together in my size. It was one of those thrifting moments you can barely believe!

Belle by Sigerson Morrison Flats, Goodwill Outlet ($2); Tory Burch Moccasin Flats, Goodwill Outlet ($2)

Aren't they amazing? The Sigerson Morrison flats are so beautiful, but the Tory Burch ones are my favorite! I've been wearing them to work all week so far, and my feet haven't hurt one bit. The leather is so soft and comfy and wonderful :)

How is your week going so far? I'm excited about the long weekend, even though I have to work a half day Saturday.

Oh, and I have a super exciting new monthly feature premiering tomorrow so be sure to check it out!!!

Random Vintage Treasure Love

I am such a fan of little vintage things. Especially if they are odd/random/weird...and what fits these descriptions more than an old gear shift from a Datsun? (Well, okay, maybe I have seen odder things while thrifting...but they aren't appropriate to talk about on this family-friendly blog!)

Check out these cool, old (appropriate!) things from Saturday's thrifting:

Vintage Brown Ceramic Insulator, Busch Gardens Bookmark, Money Clip, and Dolphins Pin, Love of Jesus; Vintage Astrology Sign Rings, Good Samaritan; Datsun Gear Shift, and Plastic and Metal Combs, Antique Shop

I know I said that I'd stopped collecting vintage insulators, but this one's shape and chocolate brown color is so different I had to get it! Everything else except the gear shift and the Taurus ring will be appearing in the shop shortly :) Although the little rings are made for children, I am thinking of tying mine to a long silk thread and wearing it as a necklace!

I still haven't shown you my best finds from Saturday :) They'll be coming up tomorrow for sure!

Little Lambs and Awesome Accessories!

Saturday was probably the best thrift day I've had in the past couple months! Not only did I find some pretty awesome vintage things, I also found a couple new goodies :) And, as a bonus, the hubby found things he liked too, including a vintage pipe for a mere $2.50. I was so proud of him!

Here are the great accessories that came home with me:

Studded Leather Purse, Goodwill Outlet ($2); Young Pendleton Lamb Scarf, Love of Jesus ($1); Black Bangle, Antique Shop ($1); Vintage Glasses, Salvation Army ($1 each)

I love all of these so much! I wore the studded bag yesterday for church and then estate sale shopping, and it fits a surprising amount of essentials in it while still being lightweight. The lamb scarf is so silky and lovely, and the fact that it's Pendleton brand makes it high-quality too!

The glasses are so neat- a guy pair and a girlie pair :) I have quite the little vintage glasses collection going, so I might be listing some in the etsy shop soon. Speaking of which, I listed some new items, check 'em out!

My Thrifting Outfit: Put-Together Jeans and T

It's been super, super hot here in Richmond this past week! When the temps are high, I don't want to wear anything but rolled-up jeans and a comfy Tshirt, with my hair in a top-knot. Because I am attempting to get away from just throwing these on, I decided on a more put-together version of my stand-bys:

Vintage Sunnies, Salvation Army; Silk Shirt, Goodwill Outlet in Bradenton; Necklace, A Yard Sale Shop in Bradenton; Jeans, Goodwill; Vintage Coach Bag, Goodwill Outlet; Scarf, Lighthouse Ministries in Brandon; Flip-Flops, Goodwill Outlet; Bangles, Antique Shops in Richmond

I had to wear my new silk shirt that I found at the Goodwill Outlet at the beach in Florida! That G.O. was much different than our Richmond one, since everything was just 50 percent off of the normal Goodwill price.

I found quite a few excellent things yesterday that I'm really excited about :) I can't wait to show you everything and finally list some new goodies in the etsy shop!

Shoe Jackpot and What I'm Wanting :)

I couldn't stay away from my local Goodwill once I got back to Richmond! Thursday after work I drove straight there :) I'm so glad I did, too, 'cause I found something I've been searching for forever and something great for the etsy shop! Check 'em out:

Toms Shoes; Vintage Oxfords; Both: Goodwill

The Toms shoes are for me :) I've been searching for these forever at my fave thrift stores, and honestly never thought I'd find them! These are perfect- so comfy and I'm kind of loving camo right now. (I think it's my inner tomboy fighting to get out after all the girlie things I've been drawn to lately!)

The beautiful oxfords will be in my etsy shop once I manage to update it!

Ohhh, and what I'm wanting as I thrift? I have a little list going of things for my family/friends, plus I'm dying to find the perfect circle sunnies and leather sandals! (My other circle sunnies suffered a painful death on the concrete the other day... whoops!)

Beach Finds Wrap-Up: The Unusual Things

As you may have noticed, I sometimes gravitate toward the unusual :) (Real bug ring, anyone? Lol!) So of course I had to pick up a couple strange things on my Florida trip!

I had to include my favorite thrift shop sign ever- I couldn't believe it when I saw it! We had to go inside and see for ourselves...and yup! One side was random junk and the other was lures and live bait and fishing poles. I didn't buy anything there, but it was worth it just to see such a random place!

Live Bait/Thrift Shop Boat Sign; Crazy Print Silk Shirt, Goodwill Outlet Bradenton; Sword-Shaped Letter Opener, United Methodist Thrift Shop; Vintage Aprons, UMTS and What a Find! Thrift

The aprons are vintage awesome-ness and the crazy shirt reminds me of those posters you cross your eyes at to see a picture. Of course my favorite of these finds is my crazy sword letter opener that's about as sharp as Zorro's real one :) (The hubby gently took it away from me in the thrift store when I made this connection and drew a "Z" in the air...)

Happy Friday!!!

It's the Little Things...

Due to limited luggage space, most of the thrifted Florida goodies I brought back were small. But I love little things, so it worked out well :) I came home with a mostly full drawstring bag of jewelry and miniature treasures!

Pardon the odd background of the photos, as I took them on the long car ride back to Virginia. I used the camo shorts I was wearing as a backdrop to the brightly colored goodies:

Necklaces, Bradenton Beach Thrift Shops; Shell Bracelet, Holmes Beach Antique Shop; Pins, Various Florida Thrift Shops; Beaded Flower Coin Purse, Nearly New Thrift in Sun City

The red necklace was the best deal at 50 cents! It's super-long, so you can wear it doubled over. I found it hanging in a little antique shop called 'A Yard Sale' of all things! It didn't have a price tag, so I asked the cashier and he said anything that wasn't marked was 50 cents. Pretty awesome :)

The coin purse might end up in the etsy shop (sooo have to update it! it's been awhile!), but the rest of these little goodies are for me! I love how I can add a little bit of interest to an outfit with a pin or non-metal necklace :) Life would be easier if I could just wear whatever jewelry I pleased, but it sure is fun to hunt down things I can wear!

I hope your week is going well :) Mine is pretty much flying by- a great thing for the week after vacation!

Amanda

My Thrifting Outfit: Life's a Beach :)

Spending nearly a week at the beach in Florida with the hubby and his family was relaxing and fun. Not only was there plenty of sun, beach, and pool time, some of my favorite thrift stores are at Bradenton Beach! It was great to re-visit some of the very first thrift stores I visited when I was still in high school...a good 7 or 8 years ago!

Mostly I just threw on whatever outfit was clean, but since this one is so different from what I usually wear, I thought I'd show you:

Panama Jack Hat, Goodwill Outlet ($1); Striped T, Goodwill; Necklace, Made by Sis-in-Law; Romper, Dots ($9); Flip-Flops, Goodwill Outlet ($2)

I don't really consider myself someone who can get away with wearing the romper trend (nor do I like the word romper...) but in the Florida heat, you just have to wear what's lightweight and breezy! I was pretty darn comfy and cool in this outfit :)

The Panama Jack hat was a lifesaver all during the beach trip, too. I wore it every day: to the beach, the pool, thrifting, everything. Unfortunately, by the end of the trip it was pretty worn out and I had to throw it away. I like to think I got my $1 out of it though!

More Florida finds are coming up tomorrow :)

Fave Vacation Find; Least Fave Vacation Thrift Store

I went to a lot of different thrift stores on our Florida vacation. Brandon, Sun City, Plant City, Lakeland, and Bradenton ones were scoured for treasure. Unfortunately (or fortunately for my pretty small luggage) I didn't find a whole lot of things!

Little finds were the norm, with multiple vintage necklaces and pins popping up everywhere. My two largest (in size) purchases were my pretty oxfords and this wonderful old carpet bag:

Vintage Carpet Bag, Goodwill Outlet Lakeland ($1)

Although I dug up this lovely bag from the depths of a bin, the Lakeland Goodwill Outlet is not even half as good as my beloved Richmond one. For one, it was tiny. Second, the bins were mostly super-deep and hard to go through. Third, the stuff wasn't even worth going through!

The best thing was that the prices were a tiny bit better than our Richmond one, which is how I got this beautiful carpet bag for a mere dollar :) As much as I was dissapointed in this G.O., I guess it was worth it for my one treasure!

The Finds That Got Away: Animal Edition

Hey! How is everyone? I'm back from my Florida vacation, and we had so much fun :) Today, it's back to work, and I still have to sort through the many photos I took and my thrifted finds. For now, I'll show you a couple things I wish I had gotten when we went to the Nearly New thrift store and the Goodwill in Sun City, Florida.

Mouse Flats ($2); Tiger Cross-Stitch Wall Art ($3.99)

The flats I passed up because they were a couple sizes too small for me :( I probably should've gotten them anyway and sold them in my etsy shop. Oh well, at least I have this photo I sneaked in the mayhem of the "shoe room" I found my beloved oxfords in :)

And the tiger wall art? What can I say- I love it! I think it's just so neat, but everyone who was thrifting with me (my mom, dad, brother, husband, and friend) all said it was way too ugly to get. Even though it was under $4. And awesome.

Of course I took a photo so I can ask random friends if they think it's cool, but so far no dice! Everyone but me thinks it's hideous. I stand by my decision to love it- even if it'll never grace our apartment wall. Poor tiger!

I had a lovely time in Florida- how was you all's past week? I can't wait to catch up on my favorite blogs :)

The Best Ever Oxfords and an Awesome Necklace!

We are driving the rest of the way to Virginia today! We stayed last night in Santee, South Carolina. It'll be crazy getting back into the swing of things after a week and a half off. I couldn't wait any longer to show you more Florida finds: my vintage wingtip oxfords and plastic chain link necklace I scored at 'Nearly New' thrift shop in Sun City :)

Vintage Wingtip Oxfords ($2); Necklace ($2); Both: Nearly New Thrift Shop

I am beyond excited about the oxfords! I searched for months and months for them, and there they were in a little room full of shoes in Sun City, Florida. They are perfect, too :) My size, regular width instead of super-slim like I usually seem to find, and the perfect caramel colored leather. Ahhh.

And you all know by now how much I love non-metal necklaces that don't break my skin out in hives! (Metal allergies are awful!) I couldn't pass up this cute 80s necklace, since it will fit in nicely with my recent stripes and navy blue obsession :)

That's about all for now! I'll be back to regular posting with beach thrift finds and fun stuff this week!

Thrifted Remix: Angry Wolf Tshirt :)

When I found this wolf T at my local Goodwill, I had no idea how much wear it would get. I just knew it was pretty awesome. Looking through my blog outfits, I've only photographed this shirt three times, but I wear it sooo much.

It's just the perfect slouchy-but-not-too-slouchy fit, and it's lightweight but has stood up to numerous washings by me and probably by it's first owner too!

The Wolf T is definitely packed in my Florida luggage too :) Ahh, vacation. How is your week going?

Thrift By Color: I Love Blue!

Blue and Green have long been my favorite colors. There's just something so natural and earthy (and sky-y?) about them :) Plus, blue is such a pretty color for things to be- even more ordinary things like overnight bags and kid's games!

Here are some of my favorite thrifted blue finds:

Vintage Insulators, Various Thrift Shops, Antiques Shops, and Estate Sales; Vintage Samsonite Overnight Bag, Goodwill Outlet; Chambray Button-Up, Goodwill; Vintage Hockey Game, Love of Jesus

My very favorite of these is the hockey game! It's so much fun, even though I mostly lose to the hubby (unless he takes pity on me and lets me win...which is even worse!). But it's seriously fun, and so awesome that I got it with all the orginal parts in the original box for less than three dollars :)

Hope you have a great Friday! It's almost time to head back to Richmond and away from the lovely beach, Florida thrifts, family and friends. :( But I'll be sure to have loads of photos and finds and everything to share once I'm back!

Amanda

C.A.P.: Like a Thrift Store for Car Lovers :)

Every other weekend, when the hubby is off work, he goes thrifting with me. A couple weekends ago, I decided we should do something more his style too. So I suggested we go to the nearby Chesterfield Auto Parts, pay the $1 entry fee, and take a look around.

I must say, I felt overwhelmed by the abundance of cars and parts of cars strewn all over a huge junkyard. (Probably not unlike how the hubby feels when surrounded by shoes, purses, and clothes at Goodwill Outlet...)

They didn't have the part he was looking for, but we did have a good time looking around the Ford section and taking pictures of cool old cars!

But yeah, my favorite things were the vintage cars and buses- look at that awesome circular window! How cool is that?

Basically, the way Chesterfield Auto Parts works is that you bring your own tools and take out the part you're looking for. Then you bring it back to the registers and pay according to the type of item.

Although things there aren't real thrift store cheap, the hubby assures me that they are great deals. In fact, it was my dad-in-law who suggested that C.A.P. was a sort of "thrift store for guys"! I think he's right- although I'm sure there are plenty of women out there too who would understand this crazy neat place more than I do :)

Estate Sale DIY: Beach Towels as a Rug

So remember when I said that I went to yard sales and an estate sale back in Richmond the Sunday before last? No? Well, I did make it to one estate sale the Sunday before I left on vacation- and it was pretty good :)

I found a little pile of vintage beach towels with retro colors and designs for 75 percent off of $2! A couple of them are a little too small to use as regular towels, but two together are the perfect size for a rug in the bathroom/closet/laundry room in our apartment:

Vintage Beach Towels (<$1); Richmond Estate Sale 6-6-10

Just kidding about the DIY, really. 'Cause all I did was recognize that the patterns would be awesome as a rug and put the towels on the floor! I guess if I wanted to, I could sew them together, but I might need them for something else in the future :)

I hope you all are having a great week!

Thrifted Beach Reads!

I've been gathering a couple books to read while lounging on the beach this week :) What better place to buy books than the thrift store, too! So, so much cheaper than the bookstore (even though I used to work at Borders and loved it!).

Here are my beach reads:

1. Jaws; 2. The Pump House Gang; 3. Tuck Everlasting; 4. Savannah Blues

1. A beach vacation isn't complete without a little horror, right? Ha, ha. I actually have never read this book, so we'll see if it scares me out of the water! (I've seen a little bit of the movie, but not all...)

2. This 1960s book drew me in because of the funky color of the cover. We'll see if it keeps my attention, and no, it doesn't look at out-there as the title suggests!

3. I saw the movie and liked the story, although it's a little sad. I'm glad that I'll be reading the book after the movie for once.

4. I actually read this book at the beach a couple years ago, when I borrowed my now mom-in-law's copy. It's because of this series that the hubby and I honeymooned at Tybee Island, Ga. and the main character's an antiques 'picker'! After I found this for 45 cents at Family Thrift, I knew I had to re-read it :)

And a little review of my last thrifted book, Jim the Boy:

While it was set in the Depression-era south, there wasn't much in the book that alluded to the state of the country at the time. I suppose this is because it was told in 10-year-old Jim's voice, and he didn't know that the country was in a depression? But other than that, it was well-written and a quick, nice read.

First Florida Finds!

Although I'm now on my way to the beach for the week, I thought I'd share my first couple Florida finds from the Brandon thrift stores :)

Book, Lighthouse Ministries Brandon ($2); Scarf, Lighthouse Ministries Brandon ($1); Vintage Scarf and Pink Scarf, Goodwill Brandon ($1 each)

So, the thrift stores in Richmond beat the ones in Brandon by a long shot! But, the new Lighthouse Ministries thrift stores are starting to make up for it :) They have great prices and a pretty good assortment of goodies! I love the scarf in the middle- I think it resembles a beach ball.

Happy Monday!!

My Thrifting Outfit: Navy Blue and Jelly Shoes

We went to this really cool, once-a-week thrift store in Sun City yesterday called 'Nearly New'. Needless to say, because of the surrounding older community, it was more vintage than nearly new things! For me, that was perfect :) We're talking vintage tan leather wingtip oxfords in my size (!!!!), awesome vintage pins and little stuff for the shop, etc.

I'll have to show you guys those finds in a little while, though, because tomorrow morning we're headed to the beach! Beach = basically internet-free for the whole week, which will be relaxing, even though I'll miss you all!

Until then, here's what I wore yesterday:

Shirt, Love of Jesus; Vest, F21; Linen Pants, Goodwill; Jelly Shoes, Goodwill in Orlando; Necklace, Diversity Thrift; Bangles, Antiques Shops; Ray Bans, Goodwill in Pensacola

I hope you all have a great week :) Thanks so much for your nice comments on my new haircut! I was a little hesitant to cut it short since it was so long, but it's so much lighter and easier to do now. Isn't my mom the best hairstylist ever? She has a cute little shop that she and her work partner share, and she can make anyone's hair look amazing!

Have a good one :) There will be some cool scheduled posts when I'm gone to keep the thrifty goodness coming!

My Thrifting Outfit: A Transition to Date Night

First off, let me say that I'm having such a great time so far on my vacation! The weather has been sunny and a bit hot, but not bad at all :) I'm loving spending time with family and friends, and thrifting in different places.

Second, I have a new blog layout! I'm super excited that they finally came out with new ones for blogger, but there's one weird thing. The post column is now much thinner, so if you look back at my archives the photos might be stretched out funny! Oh well, it's totally worth it to have a new pretty layout!

Anyway...here's what I wore thrifting yesterday:

Shirt, Goodwill; Tank, F21; Black Cargos, Goodwill; Fringed Sandals, Goodwill Outlet; Bag, F21; Bracelet Lighthouse Ministries (yesterday morning!)

We went to Lighthouse Ministries (pretty great) and a Goodwill Outlet (not so much) and a regular Goodwill (okay) in Plant City and Lakeland. And then the hubby and I went to see Cirque Du Soleil in Orlando :) A totally fun day, and a nice outfit that transitioned easily from day to night!

Happy Saturday :) We're going to Sun City to a once-a-week thrift store that I haven't been to in years. Here's to hoping it's still awesome!

Thrift By Color: Cool as Caramel

One color I have overwhelmingly been drawn to lately is caramel. It's such a great neutral to pair with any outfit, which is why I especially love it in bags and shoes! Here are some recent finds in the gooey-named hue:

Vintage Boy Scouts Wallet, Antiques Store; Vintage Dexter Tstrap Flats, Goodwill Outlet; Vintage Leather Bag, Goodwill; Vintage Shoemaker's Plate, Antiques Store

My favorite of this bunch would have to be the Boy Scout wallet I found at a local antiques store for four dollars. It's so neat to have a little piece of Boy Scout memorabilia, especially since I was in co-ed Boy Scouts once (it's called Venturing and it's high-adventure awesomeness for high-schoolers!).

I hope you have a happy Friday! The hubby and I will be in Orlando today, so I might get to hit up some of my college thrift haunts :) I'll let you know if I find anything good!

My Thrifting Outfit: Florida Sunshine!

I love my parent's backyard- it's so pretty when it's not 99 degrees with 90 percent humidity! I had the hubby take my thrifted outfit photo there this morning before we check out the local thrifts in Brandon. The funny thing is that my parents recently got french doors and I accidentally locked us outside! Whoops!

Shirt, Love of Jesus; Tank, F21; Camo Shorts, Goodwill; Flip Flops, Target; Button Necklace, Waterfront Rescue Mission in Pensacola; Bag (below) F21

EDIT: My mom just cut off all my hair! I had to take a new outfit picture to show you all :) Here it is:

I discovered we were locked out when I tried to go back inside for my sunglasses! Since we were stuck out there, we went ahead and took some squinty photos and a couple minutes later my dad came to our rescue :) At least now I know to not touch the bottom part of the lock from now on!

I have internet here at my parent's house, so maybe I'll get a couple Florida outfits in while I'm here :) The key to Florida summer outfits is thin clothing that breathes, which is why I'm rocking these camo pants for the first time since I thrifted them about a month ago. It took me this long to find a top that would look normal with them! When in doubt, pair a solid color with a camo print, and there you go :)

Have a great one!

A Yard Sale Tale

In yesterday's post, I mentioned that my yard sale experience Sunday was interesting. That's definitely the word for it! So, I went to two different yard sales in the west end of Richmond (where the hubby and I live). They were both newer, huge houses, and the first one was very strange.

It was advertised as a yard sale, but when I got to the mansion-like house, there was nothing outside! I thought at first I was at the wrong place, but then I spotted a sign that said 'estate sale-come on in!' so in I went. I was the first person there, which was awkward to say the least...

Why does it seem so normal to go to estate sales in older, smaller homes, and so weird to go to one in a newer, larger one? I walked through the three-story house, but it was mostly children's items. I did find one thing I had to have, though: a Domino magazine from a couple years ago that I no longer have a copy of! And an old Lucky mag too :)

Magazines, 'Estate' Yard Sale ($1); Beads, 'Normal' Yard Sale ($1 for all)

The strangest thing about the house that the 'estate sale' was in was not that it was a new house or a big one. The lady running it said that the owners had recently moved out and left some things for her to sell. This included the third story attic room which still had a high school senior hipster boy's posters and random curse words all over the walls! And a huge reptile tank for sale in the corner of the room... Luckily there were no reptiles in sight!

After I left that sale with my magazines and a little bit of a sprint to my step, I drove to the second yard sale. It was the stereotypical neighborhood-type yard sale with tons of kid toys and random miscellany. I was about to walk away empty-handed, but then I saw a little tub with beads in it! As I've mentioned about a billion times in the past couple weeks, my sis-in-law makes jewelry, and I know how expensive nice glass beads can be. I snatched up a couple strands for her and made my way back to my apartment.

Whew! It takes a lot of words to explain the odd-ness of neighborhood yard sales! I think I'll stick to the traditional estate sales and thrift shops for awhile :)

Amanda

My Thrifting Outfit: Polka-Stripes!

Sunday was a pretty laid-back day for me. With the hubby working, I decided to act a little out of character and check out some yard sales before hitting an estate sale. While I didn't hit the jackpot, it was interesting for sure!

More on my finds tomorrow, but here's what I wore Sunday:

Striped T, Love of Jesus; Jeans, Goodwill; Tstrap Vintage Dexter Flats, Goodwill Outlet; Scarf, Goodwill Outlet; Sunnies, Good Samaritan; Vintage Coach Purse, Goodwill Outlet; Bangle, Good Samaritan
 (100% Thrifted!)

Since posting my thrifted outfits, I feel like I'm getting better at just being myself and wearing things I love. When you can afford to get more clothes (since they cost so little at thrift stores!), you can take more chances and it's easier to find your style. I may not be the most 'fashionista-type' girl on the block, but I do have my own thrifty, tomboyish-with-a-girlie-flair style :)

We're off to Florida this morning!!! I won't have internet most of the time, but I'll try to get some Florida posts in with the scheduled Richmond ones :)

Bon Voyage!

Amanda

Shoes, Sunnies, and Excitement!

For once, I actually did thrift both things I'd been looking for on Saturday: a light blue shirt and circle sunnies. Although I'll have to debut the blue shirt once we take the in-laws' family beach picture, I wore the sunnies on Sunday :)

Another thing I found Saturday? The perfect pair of t-strap leather Dexter flats! They are soooo comfy- I wore them all day Sunday and my feet felt like heaven :)

Oversize Circle Sunnies, Good Samaritan ($0.99); Vintage Dexter Flats, Goodwill Outlet ($2)

You can see part of Sunday's estate and yard sale outfit in the sunglasses photo :) I'll show you the whole outfit tomorrow! I have to say, the large frames did a great job keeping my eyes shaded from the super-bright sun that day.

And, like I said, these shoes are sooo comfy. The cut-outs kept my feet nice and airy in the hot, hot weather, and they have such great arch support! (Man, I'm sounding like a grandma here. I love that! Grandmas are super-awesome!)

I hope you have a great day :) We leave for Florida tomorrow morning- I'm so excited for vacation and seeing family and friends and everything! I have scheduled posts for most of the days I'll be gone, with a couple days open for Florida posts. You'll be able to tell the scheduled posts by a little note on the bottom of the post  :)

It Goes To Show You...

Through Saturday's sneezing haze, I did visit my favorite four Richmond thrifts, and I came out with a couple treasures. My favorites? Two things I had pretty much given up on ever thrifting: a lightweight striped Tshirt and a certain cross-body, black, beautiful Coach purse.

Here they are:

Striped Tshirt, Love of Jesus ($1); Vintage Coach Bag, Goodwill Outlet ($2)

I had seen so many of my favorite bloggers sporting this Coach purse in black and in tan, and I never could seem to find this particular one at my fave thrifts. I was in luck this week at Goodwill Outlet, though, since somehow all the hard-core G.O. shoppers seemed to miss this beauty!

And the striped shirt- I never thought I'd thrift one! Finding the perfect one was proving very difficult. I have my sweater-weight one that I love, but it's just not practical for the 90-degree weather. Enter this perfectly worn-in, just-right navy and white one. Perfection!

Only two more days until the hubby and I leave for Florida :) I've decided to schedule posts for at least this week, and then hopefully I'll be blogging a little from Florida. Have a great Monday!

My Thrifting Outfit: Black, Brown, and Blue

Yesterday was an okay day. You see, I have these random indoor allergies to perfumes and smoke and things, and I sneezed all day yesterday because of them. Yuck. Working with people is not fun when you're sneezing. Turns out, thrifting while sneezing isn't a bucket of roses either!

But enough about that... here's what I wore:

Wolf T, Goodwill; Vest, Forever 21; Jeans, Goodwill; Capezio Bag, Good Samaritan; Minnetonka Moccasins, Good Samaritan; Ray Bans, Goodwill in Pensacola; Shell Necklace, Diversity Thrift

Since I couldn't be bothered with doing my hair or picking out clothes, I just grabbed what wasn't packed yet for Florida and threw my hair in a ponytail and walked out the door. I guess when you take away my bright Florida-ish clothes, the blacks and browns and navys are all that remain! I did add my signature shell necklace, though :)

Hopefully the sneezing is over and I can get some errands and perhaps estate sale shopping done today!

Amanda

What I'm Wanting: Circle Sunnies and a Light Blue Shirt

Ahhh. It's the weekend. I have to work this morning, but you can bet that by 12:30 I'll be on my way to my favorite Richmond thrifts! I have two main things I'm searching for today: a light blue shirt for the in-laws family beach picture and oversize circle sunnies. :)

Vintage Circle Frame Sunglasses, Found Here on etsy

The key for the sunnies, I think, is to find oversize circle frames like the ones above. Otherwise, you start venturing into 90s scary-grunge or current Olsen twins territory. Which is not to say that these two things are bad, but you have to be a certain type of cool to pull them off.

The light blue shirt is kind of a necessity, since the hubby's fam decided on the color for the group beach picture down in Florida, and I have no light blue shirts whatsoever. (Unless you count my work shirts, which, believe me, would not fit in on the beach!)

Wish me luck, and hopefully I'll have some great finds to show you!

Amanda

Thrift By Color: Hot, Hot Pink

I am returning to my thrift blog roots and restarting Another's Treasure's "Thrift By Color" Fridays! I realized it's been quite a while since I've done one, and I've got plenty of colorful finds to feature :)

To start off- pink!

Teeth Salt and Pepper Shakers, Goodwill; LA Rock FM Radio Headphones, Goodwill; Battery-Operated Candle, Goodwill in Fredericksburg; Crazy Print Beach Dress, Secondhand Store in Florida

Okay, so I know I haven't showed you guys the teeth salt and pepper shakers. They are vintage, made in Japan, and I paid a buck for them! I realize they are pretty darn unusual...but I kind of love them :)

You remember these headphones with built-in radio? They are so fun to pop on and dance around the apartment- they make cleaning sooooo much more exciting!

I love this cute little "fake" candle. It's perfect for my bedside, since I'm terrified to light a real candle next to my bed and then fall asleep and knock it over!

Lastly, you'll most likely see this beach dress's debut whenever I post my vacation pictures. We leave in 5 days for Florida! I haven't decided if I'll try to post some of the time we're gone or if I'll schedule some posts or what. We'll see :)

Happy Friday!

Amanda

Jewelry, Dots, and A Thrifted Remix

I wrote the other day about the Good Samaritan thrift store, and how wonderful the cashiers there are. I mentioned to them that my sister-in-law makes jewelry, and now whenever they put together bags of 'junk jewelry' they save it for me!

I look through the bags for anything I am in love with (which is usually a piece or two) and then pass the rest on to her :) (She's about to open an etsy shop with her handmade jewelry, and I'll definitely let you guys know when she has it up! She's great :))

Junk Jewelry, ($0.99 a bag); Good Samaritan; Vintage Scarves, Goodwill Outlet

Another thing I was super excited to find was the polka dot scarf above. It's long and skinny and silky like my yellow and white polka dot one that I absolutely love! (See outfits below, although I've probably worn it 10 more times that didn't get photographed!)
Thrifted Remix: Yellow Polka Dot Scarf

The cool navy nautical scarf shown with the dotted one will soon make it's way into the etsy shop, although maybe not until I get back from vacation :)

Do you ever thrift things for friends/family? I find that when I'm looking for someone else is when I have the most fun!

Amanda

Fringed Fabulous

Goodwill Outlet was an adventure this past Saturday. Unfortunately, they were putting out new bins and were therefore filled with crazies. (The wild-eyed, elbow-length medical-gloved packs with carts filled to the brim and angry voices. I avoid them at all costs.)

In the already picked over bins, I managed to find a few treasures, though, including something for the hubby and the hippie-awesome fringed sandals from yesterday's post:

Pirate Ship Container for Hubby; Fringed Sandals; Both: Goodwill Outlet

The hubby loves this pirate container, which he says will be perfect for holding his smoking pipe accessories. (I am just super glad when he finds something he likes while we're thrifting! It's so fun to watch someone else have a great time too:))

The fringed sandals I can already tell will be a favorite. The best thing about them is that they pretty much cover your toes, so if your toenail polish is a little (or a lot) chipped, no worries! Your little fringed buddies will have your...er...back.

I hope your Wednesday is treating you well! I'm definitely a fan of short weeks, although I do have to work a half day this Saturday. But after that, it will be thrifting time, then a day and a half more work, then vacation :) Ahhhh, so close to total relaxation and amazing Florida thrifting.

A Boater Hat and Thrifted Finds :)

So I didn't end up ever finding a boater hat at a thrift store. I was about to give up on finding one anywhere when I happened upon the dollar section of Target. Right there between children's stickers and flimsy towels was the perfect boater hat! For a dollar!!!

Naturally, I had to wear it Sunday with some newly thrifted finds, so here's my outfit:

Boater Hat, Target ($1); Rayon White Button-Up, Salvation Army ($2.99); Blue Vest, F21, ($5 on sale); Cotton Capris, Goodwill ($3); Fringed Sandals, Goodwill Outlet ($2); Capezio Bag, Good Samaritan ($2); Shell Necklace, Diversity Thrift ($1) (<$20 Total!)

The rayon shirt, the striped bag, and the awesome fringed sandals are all thrifted finds from Saturday! And while I know I thrift a lot of purses, this is definitely my new favorite! I even added a vintage Coach bag strap to wear it across my shoulders :) Love it!

I hope everyone has a great day back to work today, and enjoy the shorter week! I know I will- it's almost vacation time!

Always,
Amanda
